Patra ni machhi- Parsi Dish – By Rachana Nagrani

Patra ni machhi is a Parsi steamed fish preparation. Fish coated with a chuntey, wrapped in banana leaf. Served as a starter. It’s a no oil recipe, a healthy one for weight watchers. So here you go

Basa fish fillets – 2 (app 500gms)
Fresh coconut – half (chopped)
Coriander leaves – app 2 cups
Cumin seeds – 1tsp
lemon juice – 2 tbsp
Green chillies – 4
Sugar – 1tsp
Salt as per taste
Banana leaves (washed and cleaned)
Clean and wash fish fillets.
Make a chutney by grinding coconut, coriander leaves, green chillies, cumin, lemon juice, salt and sugar. The chutney should be smooth.
 In a bowl add fish fillets and chutney, mix well and keep aside for half an hour in fridge.
 Till the time trim, wash and wipe banana leaf.
 Before wrapping roast the leaves directly on gas stove. This will help to wrap your fish fillets.
 Now place the fillets in the middle of banana leaf and wrap it up. Repeat this with each fillet or piece of fish. Now steam these wrapped fillets for 30 minutes.
 After 30 minutes, remove fish from steam, unwrap arrange on a platter and serve with lemon wedges.
Garnish with fresh mint leaves.

    It looks so tempting and yummy 😍😍… I have a doubt , can I exclude sugar in case i want it to be only spicy and salty ?

      Yes u can exclude sugar. If u want more spicy u need to add more green chillies.
