Most of mothers complaint that kids don’t eat vegetables which are very healthy and nutritious. To develop this healthy eating habit among our kids, we often try to make food that looks interesting n exciting to kids. After all we want our kids to be healthy. Keeping in mind the health n nutrition, I made this soup – Bottle gourd and drumstick soup.

Mostly kids don’t eat these veges, so this the best way to inculcate the habit of healthy eating.
One of the most prominent health benefit of drumstick is that they promote bone health and bone density. The presence of high quality calcium and iron in high amount in this vegetable strengths the bones. Hence is ideal for the growing children as well as the grown ups. Drumstick are also beneficial for fighting cold and flu, avoid infections, digestive disorder, lungs problem, helpful to reduce the blood glucose levels n boosts immunity. The compounds of this vegetable promote better functioning of the gall bladder which helps in reducing the level of glucose in blood. Bottle gourd is rich in dietary fibre , hence it helps in curing constipation and flatulence. It is easy to digest. It promotes weight loss. It’s fat and cholesterol content is extremely low. It is suitable vegetable for lite, low-calorie diets as well as for children, people with digestive problem, diabetics and those recovering from an illness or injury.
Here is the recipe of BOTTLE GOURD AND DRUMSTICK SOUP

Ingredients

Drumstick -2
Bottle gourd – 6 inch long piece
Two spoons moong daal soaked
Salt to taste
One spoon of ghee
Cumin seeds
Black pepper powder
Method
Peel off drumstick n cut into medium pieces, peel off bottle gourd n cut into small pieces. In a cooker put bottle gourd, drumstick n soaked moong daal, add Water n allow it to whistle. After four whistles turn off the gas n open the cooker only when it cools down. With the help of hand blender , blend everything properly. Now strain this mixture to get a clear soup. Now give this soup a boil n add salt. Lastly for tempering, heat one spoon of ghee n add cumin seeds  to it and pour it over the soup. Mix well , add black pepper powder n serve hot with bread sticks.
PS – Adding moong daal helps thicken the soup and it also adds protein to it, thus making it more healthy. No need to add cornstarch.
